Annisa

The last thing we did at the Church Place in Uluköy/Annisa was to make a recording of Macrina’s dying prayer. This is as close as we get to her voice within Gregory’s account—and it’s beautiful.

The only visible remnant of the Church Place is this crumbling wall, hidden and half-sheltered by a line of terebinth trees. It likely dates to a time later than Macrina’s. But Annisa would have been a site of veneration as long as there was a Christian presence in this area.
