10 July 2020
This week I set up the gallery with deep gladness. Scattered and Drawn: Conversations in the Art of Attention represents the best pottery I’ve made in my ten years of throwing. I’ve spent the last seven months attending to words, motion, people and place, and I can’t wait to welcome you into my explorations.
The pandemic has prompted some creative retooling of spaces and schedules, but the show is still on! Here are the options:
Art of Attention Open House
Come enjoy the pottery on July 24th, 5-10 pm at Indy Clay Co-op Gallery (950 Hosbrook Street). Wrapped ice cream and bottled water will be provided, and you can bring your own picnic for a socially-distant celebration! (For your protection and peace of mind, I’ll be wearing a mask, and the gallery requests you to do the same. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.)
Private Tours
If you’re wary of groups but still wanting to see the pottery in-person, this is your option! Tours are happening most mornings and evenings from July 13-25 and you can schedule yours here. I’d love to walk you through the gallery and catch up on life. Conversation through a mask has its drawbacks, but I think the face-to-face presence and tactile interaction with the pottery will be worth it.
Online Exhibition
Beginning on July 31st, you’ll be able to experience the show online at prakunpottery.com. Then, on August 1st, the artist (Becca) and writer (Leah) will host a live dialogue via video call, and you can come with your questions and reflections. Your attendance will enter you into a drawing for pottery from the show! More details to come.
