Holiday In-House Sale!

11 December 2022

Friends! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but you can take that as a good sign that I’ve been busy in my underground studio. Leah and I returned from our research trip to Türkiye on October 15th. (For further context, read here or watch here to learn our purposes for traveling there.) Inspiration for new pottery forms and surface designs have been as abundant as the plums and grapes in Cappadocia two months ago.

Sinop, Türkiye — a local museum full to the brim with Roman colonnades, mosaics, and clay amphoras!

Cappadocia, Türkiye — wild grapes picked in fairy chimney valleys on an eight-hour hike.

Niksar, Türkiye — the writer observing the shape and hues of the river shrubbery.

Cappadocia, Türkiye — horse riding through pink and ocher valleys at sunset is not an experience I will soon forget.

Amasya, Türkiye — Turkish coffee, short and mighty.

So I’m opening my home up for you to come and peruse my newest ceramic work THIS SATURDAY, December 17th,10 am-2 pm. Mark you calendars and let me know if you’re planning to come to this sale (prakunpottery@icloud.com). I’ll be glad to respond with further logistical details (mainly my house address).

Avanos, Türkiye — a small town with an astonishing pottery tradition stretching for centuries and continuing today.

Göreme, Türkiye — an artist paints a plate in the back of an art gallery.

Indianapolis, IN — translating mosaic motifs onto clay has made for an exhilarating several weeks in my studio.

As folks who have faithfully followed my work know, food is an integral part of art shows and pottery sales for me. It’s a way you and I collaboratively imagine the goodness that the pottery will participate in as they go to their new homes. So my dear mother, Ratana, is cooking green curry and rice for you to enjoy when you arrive. Come hungry!

Cappadocia, Türkiye — the complimentary breakfasts gave us energy long into the afternoons, to say nothing of the flavors and colors and freshness of the produce.

Avanos, Türkiye — new friends and master-made pottery.
