Inaugural In-House Sale!

17 July 2022

It’s been about a year since I posted anything on the website, and that deserves some explanation. The first few months might be excused by post-show fatigue. The school year started and I got busy teaching Latin again. Then, most excitingly, I bought a house.

It brings together several long-cherished dreams of mine. Art on the walls and a crowded table. A yard which my housemates are busily converting into a wild and abundant garden. And a basement-turned-pottery-studio, so I can finally live my favorite Instagram tag: #artistinherownresidence

The studio is still a work in progress. The first few rounds of mugs and bowls I’ve thrown here underscore the need for a sink, kiln, and air purifying system…all of which seem a little financially daunting as I get into the rhythm of monthly mortgage payments. But making art in my own place seems a gift too rich to keep to myself.

So it is my very great pleasure to announce an inaugural in-house sale! It’s a chance to celebrate, to introduce you, my friends, to the house, and to start saving toward that studio equipment. My sister Katie is also contributing work, and we plan to pack the shelves (and cabinets and maybe tables) with new pottery.

So stop by for a visit on either FRIDAY, July 29, 5-9pm or SATURDAY, July 30, 10am-2pm! For those of you who can’t visit in-person, the pottery will be available online, starting Friday at 5 ET.

As folks who have faithfully followed my work know, food is an integral part of art shows and pottery sales for me. It’s a way you and I collaboratively imagine the goodness that the bowls and mugs will participate in as they go to their new homes. So my dear mother, Ratana, is cooking Thai food on Friday night, and Katie is planning Turkish dishes for Saturday morning.

Mark you calendars and let me know if you’re planning to come (prakunpottery@icloud.com). I’ll send out an email to all of you with further details next week. Can’t wait to see you!
